Two-dollar Tuesday

I've seen the sign all month at Thanksgiving Point, but of course I wait until the last Tuesday of the month. It was $2 admission to the Museum of Natural Life. I couldn't pass it up since it's normally $10 for adults and $8 for kids. I had no idea how crazy it would be. We waited in line for 1/2 hour just to get in and that was right at 10:00 when they opened. The boys had a pretty good time looking at all the dinosaurs and different exhibits. There's lots of hands on stuff for them to do as well.

Afterwards we met some friends at Arctic Circle for lunch. They always have a good time, especially when ice cream is involved.

Snell Family Olympics

In honor of the Olympics these past few weeks, my parents held the Snell family Olympics at their house tonight. Aunts, uncles, and cousins were all invited to watch the kids compete. The events included: Gymnastics

Jumping ( I wish this picture hadn't been blurry, Little man is quite the jumper)

Water events
And finally a medals ceremony.
Look at these proud Olympians. They did a great job and every one had a good time watching them.
The evening concluded with a huge snake creeping into Grandma & Grandpa's backyard. The kids were fascinated as long as it kept its distance.
Thanks to Grandma & Grandpa for a great Olympics.

Bees Baseball Game

We decided to get a baseball game in before the season was over. I can't believe that summer is wrapping up. The boys (all three) had a good time. As long as we had treats they were content to sit still. I think this is the first year we've sat in the shade, it was nice.

Little man would not pose with Bumble. He would look at him if I was holding him, but when I tried to put him down for a picture he had a fit. Maybe next year... Big man thought he was pretty cool. He had no problem posing for a picture.
I was very proud of little man, he went potty at the ball park twice and stayed dry all night. He's doing awesome at potty training.

Swim Lessons

Big man is in swim lessons this week. It's his first time and he's pretty excited about it. A friend from our ward is in his same class and they're having a great time together.

His teacher is very patient and has some great ways to teach the kids different techniques.

His favorite game is Alligator, Alligator. He says it all day long. Today (day 2) he didn't want to get out of the pool.

Quality time with the boys

I forgot how time consuming potty training can be. I do have to say that we've made some good progress in the last 4 days. We've still got a long ways to go :) The good thing is I've spent some good quality time playing with the boys. Friday Big man wanted to play dress up. We dug out the Woody costume from Halloween.
I have this same picture of Big man two years ago-with the hat and binkey. It's funny how much they look alike at this age. Too bad I didn't get a picture of daddy with the woody hat and bandana on. It would've been perfect to complete my collection of pictures.
Looks like I need some new band-aids. If one is good, then 20 is much better. I'm not even quite sure what the injury to his foot is. I think he stubbed his toe, there's no visible injury. After I listened to him unwrap 5 or more band-aids from my bedroom, I had to go investigate.
What a nut!!!

What was I thinking

Little man has been showing some interest in potty training lately, so today I decided to take the plunge and work on it with him. We spent the morning potty training Elmo. Big man was such a help and wanted Elmo to potty every 2 minutes.
Little man caught on pretty quickly and went on the potty several times during the day.
He was pretty proud of himself wearing big boy pants.
Overall our first day went pretty well. If he can keep it up that would be great, then I'll only have one in diapers here in a few months :)

Happy (un) Birthday

In addition to the family reunion, we also had an un-birthday party for Jaxon and Grandma Snell on Saturday. Since big man's birthday is Christmas Day, we want him to have a special day to celebrate in the summer.

My days of cooking in the kitchen by myself are over. This is little man helping me with the frosting. What a helper.

Big man wanted to cut the brownies. Notice the diagonal lines :)
The family is singing to him-complete with his uncle on the phone.

We were lucky to get four of the five looking at the same time. Big man got this soccer goal as a present. Little man thinks it's a tent.
Opening his presents. He had a great time. He was even good about sharing with everyone once they were all open.
All in all it was a good un-birthday party. As I reflected on the night I thought of the things I love about a child's birthday. Here they are 1-The chaos and excitement 2-The enthusiasm 3-Seeing joy through a child's eyes 4-Realizing that your child is growing up. Okay maybe the last one is not the best. It makes me realize how fast time goes by and before I know it he'll be all grown up. I just hope I can cherish these moments while they last.

Family Reunion

Saturday was Jeff's family reunion down at the Hobble Creek Hideaway. It's between Nephi and Fountain Green. Thank goodness for the shade and numerous clouds. There's lots to do for kids of all ages :) Big man thought it would be fun to try out the rope swing across the creek. I didn't know how he'd do, but he loved it. He did it numerous times.
This is Little man trying the rope swing as well. The picture is a blur because I was torn between trying to catch him and taking the picture. He held on tight and made it across the water (probably because he watched brother do it).
The boys were exhausted on the way home. I thought they looked adorable in this picture.
One of the best things about the reunion is all the fun friends to play with. There's lots of kids their age and they had a good time playing.
